INSTALL VCENTER INVENTORY SERVICE

NOTE – vCenter Inventory Service is usually installed on a Windows Server instance using the Simple Install method, which installs vCenter Single Sign-on, vSphere Web Client, vCenter Inventory Service and vCenter Server on the same physical server or virtual machine. The Simple Install method is explained here. This section describes the Custom Install method, which enables you to install each component separately. If you are using vCenter Server Applicance, a preconfigured Linux-based virtual machine with all vSphere components included, feel free to skip this lesson, since vCenter Inventory Service is installed as part of the appliance.
vCenter Inventory Service is used to manage the vSphere Web Client inventory objects and property queries that the client requests when users navigate the vSphere environment. In this section we will describe how to install this service using the Custom Install method in the vCenter Server installer. Note that the vCenter SSO is a prerequisite for installing vCenter Inventory Service.
Start your vCenter Server Installer by running autorun.exe. Select vCenter Inventory Service under the Custom Install option and click Install:
