You can choose between three different deployment modes when installing vCenter SSO:
1. Basic deployment mode – the most common deployment option. This mode contains only one vCenter SSO node. It is appropriate for cases when you have a single vCenter Server instance of an inventory size of up to 1000 hosts and 10000 virtual machines or you are using vCenter Server Appliance. This option is used with the vCenter Simple Install process.
2. Multiple vCenter SSO instances in the same location – this deployment mode provides HA (High Availability) for your vCenter SSO environment. In this mode, you install a primary vCenter SSO instance and one or more additional vCenter SSO nodes. The SSO nodes replicate information with each other.
3. Multiple vCenter SSO instances in multiple locations – this deployment mode is required when you have geographically dispersed vCenter Servers and you must administer them in Linked Mode. SSO nodes replicate information with each other.
